Column Tables in NewWrite

Sometimes you want to have part of your NewWrite document look like a column table. This is easy to do with the borders feature and tab lines.

Let's say you want a table with three columns.

  1. Position the insertion point where you want the table to appear.
  2. Go to the Paragraph menu, choose Borders, and then pin the Borders menu.
  3. In the Borders menu, choose Thin. Then click on Custom Border.
  4. In the Custom Border dialog box, check the box named Draw Inner Lines and click Apply.
  5. Close the Custom Border dialog box and close the Borders menu.
  6. Double click on the ruler where you want the vertical line between the first and second columns to appear. In the Tabs dialog box, check Lines: On and click Apply, then close.
  7. Double click on the ruler where you want the vertical line between the second and third columns to appear. In the Tabs dialog box, check Lines: On and click Apply, then close.
  8. Type the data for the first cell, press the tab key and type the data for the second cell, then press the tab key and type the data for the third cell, then press the Return key.
  9. Continue typing until your chart is complete.
  10. After the last cell, press the Return key one more time, then click Paragraph, Borders, None. Then double click on the first tab in the ruler and check Lines: Off, click Apply, Close. Repeat for the second tab marker in the ruler.
